Imperialism applies unleniently violence. If its interest ask so, without hesitation it goes through borders, repress the people or violates rights. In order to reach its aims, it uses as much violence as it consider necessary, and promotes as much invasions as it considers useful for its expansionist aims. At the same time, it uses all the resources it has at its disposal to delegitimize the other violence, the one of the oppressed who face up to it with less resources and more conscience The concept of "fight against terrorism" is a tool made by Imperialism, and Imperialism uses it capriciously against any expression of resistance, expressions that luckily are many and varied.

This ideological confrontation is as active as the armed one. A large majority of the society have accepted, without a critical conscience, this demobilizating discourse of the power. Despite it, in different parts of the world many popular sectors are facing up to the imperialist aggressions, and firmly believe that the popular fight is still valid .
The Basque Country is one of the scenarios of this armed and ideological confrontation. It is the territory in Europe that has the higher density of police: Spanish police, Basque-Spanish ones, the "Guardia Civil", the Spanish army... The military intervention against the civil society is permanent: they repress demonstrations, they arrest people with the intervention of a big amount of armed police... Our country is also the one were more of resources are used the to discredit the popular answer: the media attached to the system, well paid intellectuals, "pacifist" groups funded with public money. Their messages in favor of "peace" (never of justice) unite their efforts to discredit the popular fight: the ones that fight are terrorists, violent, antidemocratic, they are attached to old unuseful strategies... But the people in the Basque Country believe that it is the only way they allow to us follow.
September 8 ETA's communiqué
In this 8 September communiqué ETA assess the situation: They consider the Spanish Constitution is the very center of the conflict, a Constitution that restricts the Basque Country's right to decide, freely and democratically, about their future. When this Constitution passed the aim was to assimilate and to incorporate our country into the Spanish legislation. 30 years later it has become an useful tool to keep denying the political reality of the Basque Country and its territorial partition.
ETA denounces that the Spanish government and their partners, the pro-autonomy PNV, tried to defuse and to erode the Basque left by breaking the agreements, and tried a new strategy to oblige them to surrender. The armed organization reiterate that our country has no future inside the ongoing frame of the Constitution. At the end of the communiqué, ETA also reiterate their strategy: "until reaching the objective conditions that allow to defend all the political projects in the Basque Country, ETA will keep on beating against all the structures of the Spanish state in all its fronts".
Content of the last ETA's bulletin
In the last internal bulletin, the armed organization make a more detailed analysis of the process. For them, the key for its solution is a proposal of an Status for four territories (the ones in the Spanish state) made by the Basque left some months agon and rejected by the Spanish state as well as by the PNV. They invite "we, that are fighting to build a free Basque country , to put all our efforts to make this project strong". The reaffirms the fighting strategy: "This people's survive lies in the fight... ;The defense of our country is a task that can not be postponed... ;We must answer the aggressions that come from the Spanish and French governments...; The Basque left will have to fight to build a popular wall...;Popular reaction, the fight on the streets and mobilization are extremely important...; We have to answer firmly in order to determine the repressive strategy of the enemy".
Combatant day
On September 27, 1975 Franco's dictatorship executed by firing squad five activist opposed to the regime, three belonged to an antifascist organization, the FRAP, and two belonged to ETA; one of them, whose name was Txiki, the son of Spanish immigrants who moved to the Basque Country, joined the Basque armed organization. Few days later the dictator died: he got the power by killing, and ended his life shooting five men.
Since 1975, in the Basque Country September 27 became a day to remember and to homage all the popular combatants who fell. On the eve of this year Combatant Day, ETA issued a communiqué reaffirming their militant engagement, and taking the case a member of the organization who just died after devoting his life to the fight as an example.
On September 27, may people marched on the streets to homage the combatants who fell. Many of these marches were repress by the police, the Basque or the Spanish ones. The political message of all the acts was: "We have always been obliged to choose between living oppressed or fighting for freedom; in this conditions, all the combatants are an example of freedom and fight. The fight brings us here, and with the fight we become stronger to create a new opportunity for freedom ".
The answer of the State
While the Basque left insist on opening a new opportunity to solve once for all the conflict, the Spanish state, now administrated by PSOE, answer by the only way that they know, by the old and failed repression formula. On October 4, in a very spectacular operation of the police 22 leaders of Batasuna are arrested. In the next information service we will analyze it.
